This is 'Frozen Yoga' - both my son and daughter loved this. She retells the story while you complete a relaxing yoga session.

Mr Watkinson

Hi,

I'll add lots of exercise ideas here while we are partially closed.

Number 1:

The Body Coach is a very popular exercise channel on youtube. There are always lots of 5 minute kids workouts for kids, however starting Monday he is running a 9am exercise class / PE lesson. I highly recommend it. Search 'the body coach' and you'll find it or use the link below

Exercise is good for the body and the mind.

Sport and PE

At Cedars, we believe that School Sport and Physical Education is essential in developing healthy, motivated, confident and physically competent children. We believe it is important to support pupils to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding through a range of physical activities whilst promoting a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle.

Our Aims

  • Motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Enable pupils to develop and explore physical skills with increasing control and coordination.
  • Encourage pupils to work and play with others in a range of group situations, developing the importance of team sports.
  • Develop the way in which pupils perform skills and apply rules and conventions for different activities.
  • Show pupils how to improve the quality of their performance and make progress.
  • Develop an understanding in pupils of how to succeed in a range of physical activities and how to evaluate their own success.
  • Help pupils to understand the importance of physical activity in leading a healthy lifestyle.
  • Develop pupils’ enjoyment of physical activity through creativity and imagination.
  • Provide opportunities for pupils to experience and enjoy competitive sports.

Sports & PE Premium

For information about our PE and Sport funding allocation for 2019/20 and the impact that the funding had in 2018/19, please see the separate Sports & PE Premium page.

PE Clubs

Last year we ran many clubs, e.g. dodgeball, entered many competitions, e.g. cross-country, and many celebrations, e.g. Dance, finally we also entered and leagues (boys and girls football). In 2019-20 we plan to do even better! Please see the separate PE clubs page.

PE Lessons

PE lessons are twice a week. There are 7 areas in Physical Education lessons: Invasion Games, Striking and Fielding Games, Net and Wall Games, Gymnastics, Dance, Outdoor and Adventurous Activities and Athletics. We cover all these lessons at Cedars Primary School. We also send our Year 3 pupils swimming.

PE Coaches

We have expert coaches coming into school twice a week to teach the children high quality PE lessons. This is improving teaching and learning across the whole school.
