Please find below everything you need to know about Year 4.

  • The curriculum overview explains what we will cover each half term.
  • The knowledge organiser is to help children learn new vocabulary about our unit of study.
  • Half termly homework grids with dates for weekly homework.

Don't forget to complete your weekly homework and hand in by Wednesday and remember to read to an adult at least 3 times a week.  Please also sign your reading record!

For Mental Health Day 4V designed posters about feelings and what we can do to help us deal with emotions we may feel.  We also watched this clever animation:

This half term, children in Year 4 have been studying Electricity in Science.  As we come to the end of the unit we have been using all our knowledge about Electricity to create a buzzer game.  4V pupils did a great job of creating a full circuit and making a creative puzzle for a game player.  Take a look at some of our designs...

This to this review of the story:

In English, we have started to read The Firework Maker's Daughter.  There are some really inspiring characters in the narrative.  Lila is the daughter of the firework maker - Lalchand, she has an ambition of becoming a firework maker too but her father has other ideas....

Next week, we will start to plan and write our own story, using ideas from this fantastic book!

We have had some furry friends visiting our class this week!  They don't like noise, so we have been working really quietly in class to make sure we meet them again! sssssshhhhhh!

We are studying electricity.  In today's hook lesson, we created a circuit using lemons...

Can you a battery wasn't needed but instead, the lemons acid gave the lamp power for it to work?  Wow!

We also created a human circuit and passed a current through our bodies to make the light ball work!
