Welcome To The Polar Bears
Class 2017 -2018!
We have plenty of exciting activities planned for this term and we are looking forward to learning a lot of new things. Thank you for visiting our class page! Click on the Learning Gallery link to view all our learning and more.
The teachers in our class are called Ms A Patel (morning teacher) and Mrs Ahmed (afternoon teacher). However, whilst Mrs Ahmed is not here we have the pleasure of Mr Parry teaching us!We also have Mrs S Patel in our class to help us with our learning. There are 28 children in Polar Bears and we always work hard and try our very best. We love learning and are great at helping each other. Have a look at what we are doing this term…
In the morning we have our phonic sessions which help us to develop our reading skills and confidence. Reading is a very important part of our school and we have plenty of opportunities to read to our teacher and teaching assistants. Our books get changed on our reading day if we remember to bring them in and they have been signed. We can also bring our books in early to be changed if they have been signed at home and our teacher will try to change them as quickly as possible.
In our English lessons in Summer term 1:
We will be looking at Non-chronological Reports. We will be learning about our class animal name, POLAR BEARS. We will have a go at writing a report about polar bears and even get to write our own report with an animal we created! We will be trying hard to check our work makes sense and looking at ways to improve our writing.
We will also be learning about Poems and Stories with Rhythm and Patterns!
In Summer Term 2 you will have to wait and see!
In our Maths lessons in Summer Term 1, we will be continuing to develop our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills. We will continue to use doubling and halving and use the number facts we have learnt to complete other calculations at a faster pace. We will continue to explore the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and measurement (length, time, capacity, weight). We will use larger numbers this term and learn to write numbers above 100 accurately.
In History, we will be learning our local area.
In Summer Term 2 in geography, we will be Beside The Seaside.
In Summer Term 1, Mr Parry will be keeping the Polar Bears very busy in science. We will be learning and investigating life cycles of animals and plants. We will be planting our own sunflower seeds and watching their progress.
In Summer Term 2 in science, you will have to wait and see!
In Summer we have been given some extra special Animal homework. How many of them can we complete this term?
