Where it all started!

Where it all started!

During our first Autumn term Miss Philbin applied on behalf of Cedars Primary School to become judges for the Blue Peter book awards. The children in Miss Philbin's class (6EP) were all incredibly enthusiastic and proved to be motivated readers. We created a short video to support our application using the green screen, as well as writing letters of persuasion to, the series producer of Blue Peter, Victoria Harrison. Unfortunately, due to the high number of applications this year, Cedars have been unsuccessful...

However, this hasn't dampened our spirit! We have had a detailed discussion on what we can do to prove to Blue Peter that they have made the wrong choice. We are determined readers and wont give up!!

We have therefore decided to create our very own...

'Cedars Book Awards'!

The children in Year Six are going to be working alongside Miss Philbin to select books for our 'Book Awards' and judge them. We will present our findings to the school, and allow them to vote for their favorite.

Would you like a say?

Our first job is to choose the design for our own 'Reading Ambassador' badge.

(Below are some examples) If you would like to submit your own design for our reading badge, please bring them to class 6EP ready for us to judge them in our first session!

Our reading club will take place every Thursday after school 3:10-3:50. If you are in Year Six and would like to take part - please bring in your reply slip as soon as possible.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Miss Philbin.
