Meet the Governors

The Governing Body has a responsibility to support and monitor the work of the school and its leadership team. The body is made up of Governors representing staff, parents, the community and the local authority. Picture 1 Mr Simon Jones - Chair of Govenrors. I am responsible for the leadership of the Governing Body and ultimately to the stakeholders for its effectiveness. I promote the wellbeing and efficient operation of Cedars Primary school, ensuring that its members work together effectively and have confidence in the procedures laid down for the conduct of business.

Picture 3 Mrs Mary Hodge - Co-opted Governor.I have worked at Cedars Primary School as a teaching assistant for 29 years.. I have been married for 28 years and in my spare time I enjoy fell walking and camping in the Lake District and Scotland. I am on the Teaching and Learning Committee as well as the Full Governors Committee.
Picture 4 Mrs Jackie Clarey - Co-opted Govenror. I am a co-opted Governor; I serve on all three sub-committees. I am also the Inclusion Leader at Cedars. I am married with two children, Anna aged 22 and Tom aged 20. I have worked at Cedars since 2000, starting out as a nursery teacher. I have a particular interest in Early Years and am very pleased to be their link Governor.

Picture 6 Mrs Carly Martin - Staff Governor. I have worked at Cedars Primary School as a teacher for 9 years, with time spent in year 1, Reception and Nursery. I have been married for three years after meeting my husband at university 12 years ago. I like to swim when I get chance and I enjoy walking when it is sunny. I have an expensive hobby- shopping!
Picture 7 Mrs Shazia Dayaji - Co-opted Governor. I am a parent governor and joined Cedars in 2009. I serve on the Full Governing Body.
Picture 8 I am a new co-opted governor joining in March 2017. I currently work full-time for Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council in the role of Governance & Performance Manager, I have two boys aged 10 and 5. I hope my previous work experience and knowledge gained in the Governors Training will help me support the leadership of Cedars Primary to continue achieving success into the future. I look forward to working on the Teaching & Learning and Finance & Resources Committee as well as the Full Governing Body. My hobbies include swimming, keeping fit and listening to music.
Picture 9 My name is Mrs Truman and I am the new Headteacher. I feel very proud to be part of the Cedars family and everyone has made me feel very welcome. I have been a Headteacher of a large Primary school in Liverpool for the past 5 years and I am excited to be leading Cedars now that we are one school on one site.
